You really
need to ensure where your puppy is coming from
Do not make
an emotional purchase anywhere. Take your time in
finding the right breeder for you. We are not here to
make sales pitches but rather to make sure the public is
informed and prepared with good information on how to
end up with the Shorkie of their dreams.
A puppy
purchase deserves a lot of your time to research the
breed of your choice and breeders; to ensure you are
getting what you are paying for from a Reputable
Breeder.

Continental
airlines shipping Scams. Breeders are charging gou
extra!!!
Before we
begin Please know that anyone breeder shipping on
Continental airlines and charging over 200.00 to ship
the puppy is not being honest. I have been shipping with
Continental airlines for many many years. Shipping on
Continental airlines is 160.00 the crate your puppy will
travel in is no more than 16.00 and the rest is a vet
check. Maybe 210.00 in total at most. Many breeders are
charging way over and above the cost of flights and
making money off the shipping you are paying. So please
ask your breeder to break down the flight for you and
ask for a RECEIPT! of the items you are paying for.
You will be surprised to learn many breeders are making
extra money on your shipping cost. A breeder
should never ask you to pay for gas or their time.
That should be the responsibility of the breeder.
That in no way should be added in to the cost. All you
should be responsible for is getting your puppy home
safely on the plane and his travel needs. So when
you see outrageous shipping charges for Continental
Airlines. Please ask questions!!! It should not
cost you more than 210.00 tops!
If another
airline is used the cost may be higher. This
warning is for Continental airlines only.

If the
breeder acts like they are in a hurry for your money be
cautious. Buying a puppy should not be an impulse
purchase.
What are thee breeders breeding practices. If they
have older dogs that are 4 and 5 months that they can
not place or find homes for, one should wonder why they
would bring more puppies into the world if they cannot
find homes for the ones they have. No breeder should be
producing puppies of they cannot find homes for them.
It is a contributing factor to why the pound has
unwanted dogs now. It is very very irresponsible
If the
breeder has puppies on sale! Huge red flag. Buy one get
half off or one day sale pay now. That is a tell
that the breeder looks at their puppy as merchandise
rather than a living breathing creature. One may also
assume that the breeder is desperate to sell their
puppies as no one is purchasing them.
Please
understand when you purchase a puppy from a "bad
breeder", "puppy mill", or pet store you are helping
them to stay in business and the mothers that are having
these babies are being bred to death!

Basically
all they are saying in a nut shell is we are to cheap to
do any of the available testing on our dogs and that is
why we sell you cheap dogs. We just throw our
untested dogs together to make puppies and hope for the
best. So please undersatnd what breeders are saying when
they write things that are stated below.
"We are here with The Best Shorkies in the world.
At prices you can afford!!
We know our lines. We have never inbred our Shih tzu
dogs. The parent dogs are not from the same lines.
We have been selling them for many years!
We haven't noted any adverse genetic effects.
Bottom Line is that a Hybrid puppy is less likely to
inherit any any genetic disease, because there is no
inbreeding. Both Parents need to have the hereditary
gene to pass any disease to the Hybrid puppy. Mixed
bred dogs aren't meant to be bred, or used as
breeders. Spay or neuter your puppy. It has been
proven, that spaying and neutering your dog, makes
them a better pet, and companion dog.
I don't want to create a new breed or produce
puppies which are all identical only puppies which
are all healthy, intelligent, full of personality
and with attributed which make them good family
pets.
This goal in this scenario is not to create a new
breed,
but to create a Happy and Healthy pet!"

Breeders claiming to have
Official Shorkie Puppies on their websites
but are not members of the
Shorkie Club Of America.
The Only Official Shorkies are
from Shorkie Club Of America Breeders
Another huge
red flag to look for is why are they not Shorkie Club Of
America members?
I need the
public to understand that the Shorkie Club of America is
FREE OF CHARGE and open to all home breeders.
So you may want to ask yourself why they are not a
member. ?? Why would someone NOT want to be part of the
ethical development of the breed.???
The only
thing a breeder has to do is pay for his or her genetic
testing and the the SCA pays for an in-home inspection
by a licensed vet that is a 3rd neutral party to do the
inspection.
That is
where the problem lies. Majority of breeders today any
type of cross breeding DO NOT do any form of genetic
testing and YOU PAY FOR IT FINANCIALLY AND EMOTIONALLY
IN THE END!
The breeders
that are purebred breeders (and this is what the AKC
recommends for every breeder of each breed) is a list of
genetic testing. Why should it be any different in the
development of the Shorkie. Shouldn't a breeder want to
do EVERYTHING in their power to want to prevent puppies
from having future issues they may suffer from.
We are the
only Shorkie breed club in the world that is dedicated
to the ethical development of this breed. So one
should become leery of a breeder who is not willing to
take part.
We get emails
and phone calls regularly from people that
purchased a Shorkie puppy from a breeder that would not
offer any help to them after they got their puppy home
or the puppy had terrible genetic issues. But then
again they bought a CHEAP dog.
There is no
way anyone selling puppies for 300.00 and 500.00 dollars
is doing any genetic screening. So of course you are at
high risk for adopting a puppy that has potential for
heath issues.
Shorkie
Club of America Breeders are just as concerned about
where their puppies go and who is adopting as you should
be with who you are adopting from.
We prescreen
all our puppy parents prior to allowing you to adopt
from us.
Finding a
Reputable PROFESSIONAL Breeder who is honest and ethical
is not an easy task to accomplish
When you think about it,
the dog you adopt will be a member of your family for
many, many years to come. Therefore, the consequences of
choosing the wrong breeder can be a horrific experience.
With so many "breeders" out there that are only
interested in making a quick buck finding someone driven
by passion instead of profit is not an easy task. The
Shorkie Club Of America has taken on that challenge of
finding those breeders innocent puppy parents can trust
and rely on. Many breeders apply but few are chosen for
very good reason. Some breeders look at the SCA as a way
to have our SCA symbol on their site and up the prices
they receive. So money being the motive behind their
application. The issue that arises more often than not
is they do not meet our guidelines that will be outlined
below. Genetic
testing in expensive and mandatory for any Shorkie Club
Of America breeder.
We do not believe that mix breeds are healthier but
rather we need to be responsible in our breeding
practices to ensure puppy parents are receiving the
healthiest Shorkie possible. Mnay breeders just breed to
breed and do nothing to enusre puppy parents are
receving healthy puppies. Genetic testing is expensive
and many breeders do not want to invest the time or the
money ,hence they can sell CHEAP SHORKIES! but how cheap
is that 500.00 Shorkie puppy when you have 3000.00
dollars in medical bills and a broken heart.
As the
originator of the Shorkie breed in the USA ands Canada I
found it necessary to write a rebuttal responding to the
endless rants and lies being spewed by a breeder in
Alabama named Sherry Carter and her friend Mileen
Coulter. The integrity and credibility of the
Shorkie breed and the Shorkie Club of America is being
compromised by the false information being provided by
these two ladies and I felt it my duty to set the record
straight. 20 plus years of my adult life
have been devoted solely to the development of the
Shorkie breed and I want puppy parents to
have a clear understanding of what a Shorkie is and what
the Shorkie Club Of America represents.

Any
breeder claiming to have started the Shorkie breed
Other
than Steffy Bailey White of Washington
The establishment of today's Shorkie puppies
and the breed's early fundamental
development began 22 plus yrs ago with
the efforts of (ME) Stefanie
White/Bailey and me being the founder of the
Shorkie Club of America in 2006. We now have
30 plus SCA dedicated breeders since that
time , that share in the vision
and goals of creating the ultimate family
companion by joining together in a
conscious effort to take part in the ethical
development of the Shorkie as a breed.
The
Shorkie has evolved over 22 yrs only
through careful our selective breeding of
various Shih tzu and Yorkie lineages
in a program designed to place an emphasis
on health first and foremost and maintaining
a loyal, devoted and steadfast
temperament, while enhancing desired
physical characteristics.
In a nut shell we are the only Shorkie Breed
Club In the world that through proper
genetic testing and controlled breeding
programs we are able to make sure we are to
the best of our abilities creating healthy
well balanced Shorkies one puppy at a time.
Fact
We are very particular about our club
membership and we have very strict
guidelines in place.
The
Shorkie Club of America requires that
a licensed vet performs an in home
inspection to ensure the breeder is a
TRUE in home breeder and that all dogs and
puppies are in excellent condition. Many
breeders decline this and therefore it
eliminates them immediately . We do not
permit Kennel facilities to partake in the
Shorkie Club Of America breeding programs.
We believe that all puppies should be raised
in the home and underfoot for optimal
socialization.
Next
on the requirements to join is outlined
genetic testing that must be completed and
all results submitted from the vet directly
that has preformed the testing or the labs
in regards to bile acid testing. This
is to ensure all results are in fact
conclusive and not tampered with. All dogs
must have passed all genetic testing or will
be removed from the breeding program.
Any
breeding adults in the SCA program that
produce offspring with any gentic faults
that are proven to be directly inherited
must be spayed and neutered and removed from
the SCA program.
Sherry Carter and Mileen Coulter were denied
membership into the Shorkie Club Of America
3 yrs ago 2006 for reasons you will view
below to include a recent 2010 DRUG BUST on
Mileen Coulters home and very disturbing
letter from Sherry Carters own vet that
states she burned the eyes of a poor dog
pictured below. These records we were
granted directly from the court where it
took place as it is a matter of public
record and the newspaper in full was
received directly from the editor of the
paper in Mississippi.
These
strict guidelines EXCLUDED Sherry Carter and
Mileen Coulter from being accepted into the
SCA as qualified breeders.

Simply put
they did not meet the standards set forth by the SCA to
become a qualified breeder. That set off the biggest
BOMB and we had no idea what we were going to have
to deal with in the upcoming years. \
Although I
try not to let effect personally, my greater concern is
what this is doing to the Shorkie breed that I am so
passionate about.
It is and
has always been my personal mission to make sure puppy
parents world wide have good information and are able to
make informed choices. With so much conflicting
information being provided it saddens me greatly.
The Shorkie
breed are my passion and my legacy. My sincere
hope is that minus this little detour caused by these
two ladies, The Shorkie Club Of America will
continue on our journey in developing the Best little
companion dog that the world has ever known.

proud of each and every one of my SCA breeders and so
thankful for the amount and years of support I have

The evidence we provide below is just a couple of
examples why we are so careful and thorough in our
breeder screening. All records are legal
court documents and newspaper articles that show the
type of breeders these ladies are.

Champion Dog Lines – Maybe Not
Is the seller claiming your potential puppy is of
champion bloodlines? In the internet age, it has
become common for puppy brokers to take photos of
champion dogs from the sites of reputable kennels
and claim that these are the parents of their
puppies. Often the actual owners of the sire and dam
have no idea that their dogs are being used in this
way. Contact them. If a puppy mill will not give you contact information, search the internet and get in touch with them yourself. Good breeders will not hesitate to speak to you about their litters. We can not stress enough how often this happens.

Check references.
Those selling dogs should be able to produce a list
of references from breed clubs,
previous purchasers and at least one vet. Contact
all references! We have found re-sellers of dogs who
are negligent on severe medical attention which
their personal dogs need, have poor reputations to
being banned from breed/sport/show clubs, or do not
give puppies vaccinations but sell them at too early
of an age to avoid “unnecessary” expense.
Before You Buy: Please do not support this growing
industry of puppy mill re-sellers. There are many
ways to determine if you are purchasing from someone
wanting to make a quick profit.
Do your research, ask breed/sport/show clubs, which
often have online forums, and make an educated
decision on where your puppy will be coming from.

Sherry Carter and Mileen Coulter are NOT Shokie Club Of
America Breeders and we are not affiliated with them in
anyway. They were denied access into to the SCA.
We have had to post these things below to show people
what we have been up against ever since they were
denied. From stealing content off of our website to
stealing our graphics. We finally had to make a stand to
ensure puppy parents did not fall victim to them
These two breeders are just red flags all over the place
from drug dealer to puppy mill and animal abuse as you
will see below. Please do your research and be
safe on line. These to gals have ripped of puppy
parents all over the USA by sending home sick dogs and
that have cost puppy parents hundreds in vet bills!
Alabama
and Mississippi have no Dog laws that protect these poor
puppies. Puppy mills run wild in states where there are
no animal welfare acts in place.

Company
she had
to set under a different name
In 2009
homestead the hosting company Sherry Carter was using
(HOMESTEAD) disabled her original website for Internet
Stalking And Bullying and Slander. That website
was Shorkie Park.

Sherry Carters slander website that shut her down.
